January 18, 2006 District Superintendent signs title to the Monticello property over to NTUMC.
December 2005 and later Henderson Construction, Inc. obtains site, foundation, and construction permits from James City County
December 15, 2005 Church Conference meets to review and approve the Building Financial Plan.  The Conference approves the Financial Plan and agrees to accept title to the Monticello property.
December 2005 or later NTUMC submits new architectural plans to Old Point National Bank (OPNB) for independent cost verification
November 28, 2005 Follow-up meeting with the District Board of Church Location and Building.  The Board approved our financial plan and authorized us to proceed with construction, subject to Church Conference approval.
August 25, 2005 NTUMC presents Building Financial Plan to the Peninsula District Board of Church Location and Building.
August 18, 2005 NTUMC presents Building Financial Plan to District Superintendent
July 22, 2005 Old Point National Bank issues a new letter of intent to loan.
May 17, 2005 Leadership Council approves Building Financial Plan.
May 6, 2005 Architect meets with James City County Code Compliance Officer, discusses architectural plans, and submits them for review and approval.
May 3 - May 17, 2005 Subcontractors complete new cost estimates
April 28, 2005 JCC approved our site plan.
Early April 2005 Architect submitted revised site plan to James City County (JCC) for review and approval.
January - April 2005 Our architect and engineering firms revised our site plans and the architectural plans to include a fire-sprinkler system.
December 20, 2004 The church sent a letter to Guernsey-Tingle, our architects, directing them to revise the drawings to include a sprinkler system.
November 30, 2004 The Leadership Council released the construction delay imposed in July 2004 and instructed the Building Team to proceed towards construction.
October 11, 2004 Leadership Council approves development of a financial plan for building the exterior shell.
October 4, 2004 Special Task Force recommends clearing the site and building the weather-proof building shell as soon as possible.
September 2004  Congregation begins a program of fund raising activities.
August 11, 2004 Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Environmental Quality, issues Storm Water General Permit Coverage for our construction site.
August 2, 2004 James City County approves Site Plan and issues Land Disturbance Permit.
July 21, 2004 Leadership Council agrees to delay meeting with District Board to early October
July 15, 2004 NTUMC Finance Team discusses building financial plan with Building Team.
July 8, 2004 Henderson Inc. delivered proposed construction contract to NTUMC for review

July 1, 2004 OPNB received independent real-estate assessment based on construction drawings

March 28, 2004 Rev. Meloy presided over a Church Conference to review and approve the architectural plans.  The plans were approved by secret, paper ballot with 80 votes for, 17 against, and one abstain.  The church was introduced to the first draft of the financial plan to pay for construction costs.
March 2, 2004 The Building Team met with the District Board of Church Location and Building to review the architectural plans, which the Board approved.
February 19, 2004 Pastor Ford, Ian Roberts, and Tom Hassler met with Rev. Mike Meloy, District Superintendent, to review the architectural plans.
Dec. 10, 2003 NTUMC submitted Site Plan to James City County (JCC)
September 3, 2003 Specialty Team leaders are as follows: Engineer – Bob Pittman, Building Finance – Lillian VanDenburgh, Exterior – Gabby Galbreath, Interior – Rea Johnson, Kitchen – Betty Pittman, Music – Stacy Cooprider, and Worship – Pastor Ford.
July 17, 2003 Architect presents Phase I design to New Town Design Review Board.
July 11, 2003 Old Point National Bank delivers its first “intent to loan” letter to NTUMC.
June 26, 2003 Building Team meets with Peninsula District Board of Church Location and Building to review Phase I design.
June 12, 2003 Architects meet with Specialty Team members to discuss Phase I design
June 12, 2003 Church signs contract with Guernsey-Tingle AIA to produce Phase 1 schematic drawings.
June 2003 Building Team selects Old Point National Bank as its funding source for a construction loan and subsequent mortgage
April 13, 2003 Held Campaign Victory Dinner to kick off the campaign.
March 3, 2003 Start Capital Campaign.  John Compton leads the Klote effort. Don Kimball leads the church’s Campaign Steering Team.
February 9, 16, and 23, 2003 All members of the congregation are invited to attend one of the three presentation to learn about our construction plans and our needs for financing   construction.
December 30, 2002 Church signs contract with James D. Klote & Associates.
December 19, 2002 Architects present our Site Plan and Master Plan to the New Town Design and Review Board.
December 10, 2002 Building Team meets with District Board of Church Location and Building.  This is a preliminary meeting and does not count as one of two such meetings required by The Discipline.
December 4, 2002 Pastor Ford, Rev. Malloy, Tom Hassler, and Tom Tingle meet with Rev. Robert Casey in preparation for making a presentation to the New Town Design Review Board on December 19, 2002.
November 6, 2002 Guernsey-Tingle meets with Building Team and Specialty Team Leaders
October 30, 2002 Building Team selects James D. Klote & Associates to lead a Capital Campaign in the spring of 2003.
October 16, 2002 Interview RSI Fund raiser.  Lillian VanDenburg becomes Building Finance Team Leader
October 14, 2002 A Charge Conference, under the leadership of Rev. Michael Meloy, District Superintendent, approves the Master Plan for the site.
September 9 and 10, 2002 Architects meet with eight small groups (music, youth, trustees, etc.) to gain information about preferences and priorities.
August 16, 2002 Building Team sends a letter to all members about the status of the building program and a list of scheduled building-related meetings for the remainder of the year.
August 2002 Guernsey-Tingle begins Master Planning.
July 19, 2002 Architects submit report indicating that there is sufficient room on our property to include a day care center accommodating 100 children. Architects discuss the Master Planning Process.
June 10, 2002 Congregation informed at worship service about the need for a day-care center feasibility study.
June 6, 2002 Building Team and Guernsey-Tingle Architects agree on terms for conducting a feasibility study about including a day-care center on the property.
May 15, 2002 NTUMC ask Guernsey-Tingle by letter to conduct a feasibility study regarding the location of a day care center for 100 children on our property.
May 2, 2002 NTUMC sends letter to Guernsey-Tingle Architects requesting a meeting to negotiate terms for designing our church facility.
May 1, 2002 Mr. Stettinius, Casey Development, addresses the Building Team and asks that we consider building a day-care center for about 100 children.  Special guests include Rev. Michael Meloy and Kelly Weigert, the wife of a minister and a person with experience managing a day-care center for 100 children.
March 17, 2002 Building Team conducts a survey of the congregation to get ideas about allocation of floor space to activities and to set priorities.  Survey results in priority order among the first four uses were: 1. worship, 2. children ministries, 3. office space, 4. adult education.
March 9, 2002 Building Team conducts a Saturday brainstorming session to build teamwork, to strategize, and to dream about their vision for the new church building.  
February 23 and 25, 2002 Building Team interviews four architectural firms.  Hopke & Associates, Huff-Morris Architects, Michael Barnes, and Guernsey-Tingle Architects.  The Engineering Team had researched eleven architectural firms and narrowed the list down to these four.
January 16, 2002 The following Specialty Teams are formed:  Engineering under Dave Lorincz, Finance under Bob Graham, Exterior under Gabby Galbreath, Administration under Don Kimball, and Sanctuary under Chris Petra.
December 12, 2001 Rev. Ford and Tom Hassler meet with the District Superintendent, Rev. Mike Meloy, to discuss the function of the Peninsula District Board of Church Location and Building.  The Book of Discipline requires this Board to approve all new construction design plans and the plans for financing the construction.
December 10, 2001 Building Team discusses the need for forming teams with specific functions such as engineering, music, finance, administration, worship, and other areas.
December 10, 2001 Building Team is formed.  Members include Tom Hassler, Bob Graham, Don Hahn, Bob Pittman, Susan Collins, Shirley Kimball, Diane Warren, George Riddick, and Eddie Cason.
October 8, 2001 Building Study Team submits its report to a Charge Conference under the leadership of Rev. Mike Meloy, District Superintendent.  The Charge Conference approves the report and its findings.  The Building Study Team is disbanded.
May 30, 2001 Building Study Team meets with District Superintendent, Rev. Michael Meloy, and Virginia Annual Conference Director of New Church Development, Rev. Bruce Tuttle to receive expert guidance and inspiration.
May 13, 2001 Building Study Team formed.  Members include: Tom Hassler, Eddie Cason, Gabby Galbreath, Barbara Graham, Dave Lorincz, Warren Stackhouse, Diane Warren
February 27, 2000 The first public service of the New Town United Methodist Church was conducted in the Williamsburg Christian Academy building at 109 Waltz Farm Road in Williamsburg.
October 20, 1999 Percept Group, Inc. issues demographic study report for NTUMC indicating that there are sufficient unchurched citizens within five miles of the church property to support starting a church in that location.
July 1999 The Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church assigns Pastor David V. Ford to begin a new congregation in Williamsburg.
